Counseling Before Marriage!
As a pastor, my obligation to conduct pre-marriage counseling before performing a marriage ceremony is multifaceted. First and foremost, I am called to be a shepherd; therefore, I am required to provide spiritual guidance and support based on the Bible.
Pre-marriage counseling is an essential aspect of my role, as it allows me as a pastor to guide new couples through the process of preparing for a lifelong commitment to each other.
The Bible teaches that plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed (Proverbs 15:22). This verse emphasizes the importance of seeking counsel and guidance before making important decisions, such as entering into marriage. Pre-marriage counseling allows couples to get the necessary counsel and advice.
Another reason why I conduct pre-marriage counseling is that I have an obligation to God to uphold the sanctity of marriage. Marriage is a sacred covenant between two individuals and God, and pastors are responsible for ensuring that couples understand and honor the spiritual significance of this union. Pre-marriage counseling is an opportunity for pastors to emphasize the importance of this covenant and to help couples build a solid spiritual foundation for their marriage.
By offering pre-marriage counseling, I help couples address any existing problems or issues that may arise in their relationship and help them work towards building a strong, loving, and fulfilling marriage.
